The agricultural land market versus the conditions for Agrarian changes in Poland
А. Sikorska
Abstract: The improvement in the competitiveness of Polish agricultural farms on domestic and foreign markets is connected with the need to speed up the concentration of land in agricultural use. Historically-shaped scattered land structure has resulted in a situation where a relatively large number of farms are poorly equipped with production factors, they have no opportunities for investment, and they generate a relatively poor income. A large part of these units serve only residential functions and are used for providing the family with basic food products. As a consequence, the existing conditions restrict the economic development of the agricultural sector, which results in delay to the advancement of rural areas and generally lower standards of living in the country.
