Abstract: The paper assesses the competitiveness of farms with different specialisation and suggests measures for improvement of farm competitiveness. A framework for evaluation of farm competitiveness is applied including a system of indicators which take into account the economic efficiency, the financial possibilities, the adaptability, and the sustainability of farms. The study is based on data of surveyed farms included in the System of agricultural and accountancy information (FADN) as well as an original 2010 survey of authors. Measures for improving farms competitiveness are suggested including: consolidation of land ownership, modernisation of production infrastructure, development of market structures and creation of favorable market relations in agriculture, stimulation of association of agricultural producers, and increasing the national support to different type of farms.
