Guidelines for the restructuring of farms in Bulgaria

Abstract: The agricultural land process of fragmentation which occurs after the land reform carried out since 1989 make difficulties for agricultural sector development in the country. Strong fragmentation of the land is not conducive to large-scale creation of modern and profitable farms which could be basis for new modern and stability agricultural in our country. The aim of this study is based on analysis to show the trends of organizational - economic restructuring of farms between 2003 and 2010 in Bulgarian agriculture. At the same time it’s done comparative analysis with the other eleven new EU members how is developing the similar process with them. In the study are used the following research methods: a comparative analysis, a method of statistical groups. Through the analysis of statistical data and information are examined structural changes in agricultural holdings for the period 2003-2010, including trend of changes of utilized agricultural area of the farms. As well as changed related to legal status of the holdings, also track changes of utilized agricultural area and the number of farms by farm size. Special attention is given in the article the possibility of consolidating the earth did through land as a possible tool related to restructuring of the farm land in the country.
