Global trends in the wine sector

Abstract: Developments and trends in wine - growing sector worldwide and in particular in European in recent years have shown strong dynamics of main indicators by which it is measured. Favorable climatic conditions for vine culture, in the New World countries, desire and actions of their governments to facilitate and stimulate production in this sector, the high level of innovation and maximize the achievements of science in this area inevitably lead to a redistribution of world exports and its structure. Achieved successful balance between quality and price of the wine market is an important factor in this change of structure in the direction of increase in market share in world trade with countries like wine - Argentina, Chile, Australia, New Zealand and others. Conversely - and then decrease significantly, the areas under vines, a decline in production of grapes, etc., is characteristic for the most of viticulture and wine industries of the countries comprising the European Union /EU/. This is largely influenced by coherent European policy in this sector, defined by EC Regulation № 479/29.04.2008 aimed at reducing over production, increasing the sustainability and competitiveness of the sector and restore the positions of 80 and 90th of the last century. There is a trend in the coming years will worsen, resulting in the emergence of new countries into the global market for fresh grapes and wine. Countries like China, India and Russia represent a serious challenge with its huge consumer potential and will play an important role in the future production and marketing of grapes and wine.
