Тrends and Potential of Viticulture in Bulgaria

Abstract: Bulgaria has established tradition of production of grape because of the good climate and soil conditions. Those factors benefits Bulgarian vineyards and turn vine growing as sector which can be used as source of sustainable competitive advantage for economic grow of planning regions of the country. The aim of the study is to identify trends and potential of Viticulture in Bulgaria. The following indicators are been used for evaluation - area under vine, age, variety, share, trend of development. The analysis shows that economic activity in viticulture is weakened, which doesn’t maintain and develop production potential. There is a need to be developed a sector policy in accordance with current economic situation.
