Abstract: The aim of the article is to make an assessment of the influence of the CAP and the changes in the Bulgarian agriculture and Agriculture and Food Industry after the Bulgarian accession to the EU in 2007. The analysis is made on a branch, sub-branch and sector level. Natural and value indicators are followed, while changes in plant growing, stock breeding and the Agriculture and Food Industry (AFI) are highlighted. The general influence of the CAP is outlined, the effects of individual measures and mechanisms on the production and product structure, economic results, competitiveness and the participation of AFI and foreign trade flows are analysed. Some issues with the implementation of the European schemes for financial assistance are identified while several particular factors for the improvement of the influence of CAP on the agriculture and AFI are outlined. Possibilities for increased support and targeted development of individual subbranches and sectors during the new programme and budget period 2014+ are addressed on this basis.
