The Relation Education - Attitude to Risk in Agricultural Production in Bulgaria (Following the Example of the District of Dobrich)
T. GEORGIEVA
Abstract: The study of the attitude of individuals to risk is closely connected with the forecasting of their economic behaviour. Many issues, connected with the aptitude of producers to take risk remain unsolved in the specialized literature. One of the important open issues refers to the determinants of differences in attitudes towards risk. The aim of the present article is to present the results of a study of the influence of education on the attitude of Bulgarian agricultural producers to risk. The data in this study is based on a survey concerning the attitude of producers towards risk. The target population are all producers, who carry out their activities on the territory of the District of Dobrich. There is used the quota sample model, using the criteria economic-organization form and area size of farms. There have been surveyed 64 producers, at a quota of 20% of each group. A qualitative-quantitative type of methodology is applied for the realization of the empirical analysis. For the gathering of primary information there is used the survey method and an unstructured in-depth interview of farmers. The collected information is processed with the help of statistical methods, namely correlation analysis, oneway and multivariate analysis of variance. Based on the results of the conducted survey, are drawn some generalized conclusions regarding the influence of the formal, non-formal and informal education on the attitude of producers towards risk.
