Characteristics of the current state of the agro-system with the implementation of contracts for agro-ecological public goods
Bozhura Fidanksa, Ivan Boevski
Abstract: Agricultural policy in EU partially reorients its goal to the provision of public goods in rural areas, taking into account today’s public demands.
The provision of public goods is associated with major challenges such as trade-offs between environmental performance and farm profitability, the time lag between action and impact, and a potential mismatch between the scale of actions and effects. As a result, several agri-environmental public goods such as water and air quality, soil erosion control, carbon sequestration, animal and plant biodiversity, and recreation are characterized by insufficient provision.
The aim of the present study is to analyze the level of implementation of contractual relations targeting land tenure systems, results-based approaches, collective performance approaches and value chain-based approaches.
