Influence of the integrated territorial approach on innovations in agricultural holdings
Encho Ivanov
Abstract: This study aims to investigate the influence of the relief as a major component of landscape, on the development of various types of innovations on farms. Considering the importance of the relief and other natural components for the development of agriculture in a given area, a study is carried out on the types of innovations that farms in mountainous, hilly (semi-mountainous) and flat areas implement. On the basis of the data obtained, recommendations are made on the types of innovations that could be supported through the territorial integration approach of Community-led Local Development (CLLD). Innovations in mountain, semi mountain and flat areas were examined. The findings show that topography influences the types of innovations that farms adopt. In view of the importance of innovation for the sustainable development of farms in areas with different natural characteristics, recommendations are made on how the CLLD as a territory-based approach can support the introduction of different types of innovations on farms.
